Prime Minister Gordon Bajnai received the new U.S. Ambassador to Hungary
On January 14, 2010 Prime Minister Gordon Bajnai welcomed Eleni Tsakopoulos-Kounalakis, the new ambassador of the United States to Hungary for an introductory meeting. 
During the meeting, Prime Minster Bajnai highlighted the importance of the fact that the United States will be represented in Hungary by someone who is both politically well-connected in the administration but also recognized in business circles. Prime Minister Bajnai expressed his firm belief that the ambassadorship of Mrs. Tsakopoulos-Kounalakis will give new momentum to the relationship between Hungary and the Obama administration. The Prime Minister expressed his hope that the solid business background of the new ambassador will help to strengthen our economic relations by encouraging new investments and by providing a fair and balanced picture of the Hungarian business environment. Besides Hungary's participation in Afghanistan, the two sides discussed the government's measures in crisis management, which the Ambassador highly praised. During the meeting the new Ambassador expressed the United States readiness to support the Roma programs.  
The Prime Minister praised the paramount importance of the transatlantic cooperation emphasizing that the value based transatlantic commitment is an overarching foreign policy principle of Hungary not related to government terms.
